Appleseed presents
"Celebrating the Power of Making a Difference"
On Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, Appleseed will proudly host its fall fundraising event, “Celebrating the Power of Making a Difference,” at the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center in Washington, DC. The President-elect of the American Bar Association, Carolyn Lamm, will be emcee for the event and will give concluding remarks. We are honored to have Walter Dellinger as our keynote speaker, the former Solicitor General and Assistant Attorney General, Office of Legal Counsel, of the United States, who currently chairs the Appellate Practice at O’Melveny and Myers.
This year we are proud to honor an outstanding individual, law firm and corporation:
- Fellow Appleseed Board member Philip Spector, Executive Vice President for Business Development and General Counsel of Intelsat, for his cheerful willingness to give his time and to connect Appleseed with important partners. Most importantly, Appleseed hopes you will join in paying tribute to him for serving as an example of someone who, at the peak of his career, chooses to give back through charities like Appleseed to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to succeed in life;
- WilmerHale, for their outstanding pro bono program, which has worked in concert with Appleseed on several projects, and for the dedicated service of leaders at the firm on the Appleseed Board of Directors, and
- LexisNexis, for its comprehensive corporate social responsibility program, including a robust commitment to pro bono legal work and support for organizations advancing the rule of law.
